Technological Collaborations Between IROST and NIOC Highlight Joint Opportunities
On Monday, October 13, 2025, a meeting was held to explore areas of joint cooperation between the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) and the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). The event was hosted by Professor Alireza Ashori, President of IROST, and attended by Dr. Hamid Bovard, CEO of NIOC.
At the outset, Professor Ashori introduced IROST and the companies housed in IROST’s Science and Technology Park, outlining capabilities and products relevant to the oil and gas industry. He stressed IROST’s ongoing activities in petroleum research and oil and gas technology and expressed optimism that the organization could have a greater impact on this critical sector.
Professor Ashori noted that, given the potential within IROST and its knowledge-based companies, IROST is prepared to engage in areas such as oil and gas pumps, burners and their optimization, the intelligentization of extraction and production chains, security, environmental issues, cooling and ventilation, and other challenges facing the industry.
Dr. Bovard emphasized that by examining and identifying common topics, a roadmap for synergy with IROST should be developed. He proposed launching a technology tour hosted by NIOC to give IROST faculty and experts firsthand exposure to industry needs, thereby facilitating the achievement of desirable outcomes and the resolution of challenges.
The meeting concluded with attendees visiting two knowledge-based companies housed in IROST’s Science and Technology Park that operate in the oil and gas sector, gaining firsthand insight into their capabilities.
