Official Statement of IROST Regarding Violations and Aggression by the United States and the Zionist Regime Against the Islamic Republic of Iran
The Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation of the recent attacks and ongoing violations carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran’s sovereignty, its people, and its vital infrastructure. Such actions constitute a clear breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and fundamental humanitarian principles.
Iran - a nation with a distinguished history as a cradle of science, culture, and civilization - has once again been subjected to deliberate aggression targeting its academic and scientific capacities. These attacks have tragically resulted in the martyrdom of innocent civilians, including children, students, and members of the academic and scientific community. Numerous schools, universities, and research institutions have sustained severe damage. In one tragic incident, a deliberate missile strike on an elementary school in Minab claimed the lives of 165 people and injured 96 others, most of them children.
The intentional targeting of scholars, students, and educational institutions constitutes an affront to humanity and a direct assault on knowledge and scientific progress. Such acts threaten not only Iran’s academic advancement but also the global principles of scientific freedom, education, and cooperation among nations.
We therefore call upon international organizations, as leading forums for scientific and technological collaboration , to unequivocally condemn these violations and to stand in defense of academic freedom, the safety of scholars and students, and the sanctity of educational institutions.
The advancement of knowledge requires collective moral courage and a unified response. Silence in the face of such actions risks emboldening further transgressions. A principled stance by international organizations at this critical moment would contribute to safeguarding regional stability and affirming our shared commitment to truth, justice, and human dignity.
