IROST faculty member receives top technologist accolade for advances in chemical technologies
On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the 26th awards ceremony honoring the country’s distinguished researchers, technologists, and innovators was held at Shahid Beheshti University. The event was attended by His Excellency Prof. Hossein Simaei, Minister of Science, Research and Technology; Prof. Alireza Ashori, President of the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST); vice presidents and directors of the Ministry of Science; and a group of representatives from the Parliament.
In the ceremony, Dr. Nahid Khandan, a faculty member in the Chemical Technologies Research Department of IROST, was selected as the country’s top technologist and was presented with a certificate of appreciation. The selection was based on criteria including effective contributions to science and technology, meaningful engagement with industry and society, active participation in domestic and international scientific forums, and the development of distinguished scientific and technological achievements.
Dr. Khandan’s technological accomplishments include acquiring the know-how for all stages of the technology used to produce raw materials for advanced industries such as batteries and paints. This progress began at laboratory and semi-industrial scales and ultimately led to mass production. These achievements were realized through the establishment of a knowledge-based company within IROST’s Science and Technology Park, and the industrial unit producing these materials was constructed and is now operational.
