Persian Type Culture Collection is a nonprofit biological resource center whose mission is to provide and preserve the authenticated microorganisms for research in the area of biotechnology and life science. PTCC was established in 1988 as a subset of biotechnology department in Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST). PTCC is a member of World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) and the UNESCO Microbial Resources Centers Network (MIRCEN). It operates according to international quality criteria and holds more than 2000 bacterial; yeast and fungal strains. PTCC offers services to academia as well as private industry and also carries out essential research on microbial diversity in Iran.
