IROST and BRICS+ Universities Association Launch Strategic Partnership to Strengthen International Academic Collaboration
The Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) and the BRICS+ Universities Association (BUA) have officially launched a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering international academic and research collaboration. This agreement marks a significant milestone in fostering scientific and educational ties between BRICS+ member states and facilitating Iran's smoother integration into the BRICS group.
The partnership will focus on several key areas, including joint research programs, academic exchanges, capacity building, and promoting scientific cooperation across BRICS+ nations, with special emphasis on the Islamic Republic of Iran. This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of IROST and BUA to advancing knowledge, innovation, and sustainable development.
The BRICS+ Universities Association is an international initiative that unites higher education institutions from BRICS member countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as partner nations. The association supports universities in all aspects of internationalization by sharing expertise, facilitating international academic cooperation, developing foreign student recruitment, encouraging global networking, and catalyzing international capacity building of higher education institutions.

A recent highlight of this collaboration was BUA's support for the 40th Khwarizmi International Award, one of Iran's most prestigious science and technology awards organized by IROST. The Award, established in 1987 to honor the Muslim mathematician Al-Khwarizmi, is a flagship initiative that recognizes outstanding achievements in science, technology, and innovation.
The call for submissions for the 40th Khwarizmi International Award is open until August 7, 2026. Scientists from all BRICS+ countries are welcome to participate. The collaboration between IROST and BUA is expected to create new opportunities for researchers, academics, and students across BRICS+ nations, fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence that will contribute to the sustainable development of member states.
