BIFIDOBACTERIUM MEDIUM

Casein peptone tryptic digest 10.0 g

Yeast extract 5.0 g

Meat extract 5.0 g

Glucose 10.0 g

K2HPO4 3.0 g

Tween 80 1.0 ml

Tap water 1.0 L

After sterilization, aseptically add solutions of sodium ascorbate and cysteine-HCL to a final concentration of 1.0% and 0.05% respectively. Adjust pH to 6.8. Medium not freshly prepared should be heated in a steamer for 10 minutes before addition of reducing substances.
