Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology holds Khwarizmi Youth Award (KYA) annually to recognize, introduce and appreciate research contributions made by the Iranian young innovators and technologists in various fields of science and technology. The call for the 23rd KYA was published on the KYA website and other media in April 2021 and applications were closed at the end of August 2021. The submitted projects were sent to sixteen specialized groups based on their subject areas through the electronic evaluation system. Subsequently, members of the specialized groups evaluated the projects based on the defined criteria, and finally, the best projects were proposed to the KYA jury.
In brief, 244 projects belonging to the scholars' section were sent to the specialized groups for evaluation under the initial supervision and review of the KYA Secretariat. As a result, thirteen were proposed to the jury by the specialized groups. Finally, within eight meetings with the specialized groups, the jury announced eight projects as winners of the 23rd KYA.
