Photolyses of β,γ-unsaturated ketones bicyclo-[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-one (BHO) and bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-en-2-one (BOO) included in MY zeolites gave the oxa-di-π-methane products, which are believed to originate from the triplet state caused by heavy atom cations present within the supercage.
